Be an
Empathetic Coach
Make your team the star of the show. A leader should be a coach on the sideline, take the time to get to know the team’s strengths and weaknesses and help every team member grow. In my spare time I coach soccer and I love seeing young players' confidence grow and when they understand how to work as a team.
Make them feel safe
Take the time to meet with team members 1-on-1 regularly
Build trust & confidence
Let the team do their job and don’t get in their way

"It's better to be interested,
than interesting"
This is one of my favorite quotes and it's a good reflection of what a leader should be all about. Take the time to truly be interested in learning more about your team members and people around you in general. Make them the star of the show instead of trying to be interesting and bragging about your own accomplishments. Outside work I regularly mentor new designers and it's so inspiring to see their passion and be able to share stories with them.
